At the end of January I finished a big book arts project called Sola: A Mythical Story About a Real Girl. It is end-to-end handset type and pressure-printed images. It was both pleasurable and stressful as I struggled with physical problems, design problems, and deadlines, but also reveled in ink, paper, and magic on the press. Thinking about Sola's life mythically was a good device for writing what is true and real, without stumbling over what's believable.
While making Sola I began designing this new blog on my my new and first ever web site. Next week I will be printing some broadsides printed from photopolymer plates for a former faculty of mine (I'm so excited!). All in all, it seems I have truly jumped with both feet, finally, into the 21st century. Nice to meet you here.
